Motorcycle Repair: no start, polaris sportsman, starter motor

I have a 2002 Polaris sportsman. atv no longer starts all I get is clicking. have tried new battery and pull starting. no resistance what-so-ever when trying to pull start any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Len,

I cannot accurately diagnose the problems from the information provided. I would need to be present and perform a few checks.

I suspect the pull-start is not engaging the starter and turning the crankshaft. Pull the side cover and inspect the pull start assy. and starter motor clutch assy.

The new battery may be weak or defective. It happens on occasion. The starter motor or starter motor clutch may be worn or defective.
