Motorcycle Repair: FLHTCI Dies, test light, loose connection

Question
I have a 2000 Electra Glide with fuel injection. It starts OK when cold. It runs OK after the FIRST start. When I park it for say an hour, then start it and ride for  few minutes it will die when shifting from first gear. When I crank it it won't start. I have to play around with the kill switch and ignition to hear for the sound of the fuel injection before it will start. The fuel injection always makes a humming sound before starting which is normal on fuel injection machines and I don't get that sound when it dies on me. Why is it dieing on me?? Could it be bad gas? Clogged fuel filter?? Fuel injection problem?? After I get it started it runs fine. Until I park it and take it out again.
I hope you can point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Hector

Answer
If you dont hear the fuel pump pumping up then you have a short. Your not getting power to the fuel pump. What you will have to do is trace the wires back from the fuel pump using a test light to find the short in the wire or you have a loose connection.
Good luck and happy riding
