Motorcycle Repair: Clutch cable install, clutch cable, clutch lever

Question
Mike, I just installed a new clutch cable in my 1999 Heritage Softail. When I adjust the cable to take the slack out, I have to max out the adjuster until there is only 1 or 2 threads left on it.Is this normal due to future adjustments? The second part of my question may answer the first but here it goes. I looked at my manual and it appears I put the cable in the wrong order. I put it in the transmission end first and routed it to the clutch lever second. Since the adjuster is in the middle, does this matter? Or is this why the cable is maxed out? Thanks in advance. Dennis

Answer
the routing doesnt really matter as long as its nto getting pinched or is rubbing.
As to the cable, go inside the primary and adjust the clutch first, before doing the cable. If you still dont have enough adjuster then you might have the wrong cable
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
