Motorcycle Repair: rm125 carburator problems, overflow tube, jap bike

Question
hello,
I have been working on one of my customers 99' Suzuki RM125 and have fixed all the problems he has brought it to me for except he has a fuel leak, so naturally i pulled the carb apart and took a look around. I found that the bottom of the carb that is removable to change the main jet was falling apart the metal had actually broke down and was decomposing, so i replaced that as well as the float and needle valve assembly, i did not change the seat for the needle as it is fixed to the carb.  I checked the brass overflow tube for cracks or fractures yet can't find anything, i also removed the drain screw and ran some 600 grit over it to smoothe out any burs, yet when i turn on the fuel it still leaks, just little drops about 8 drops for every ten seconds not a steady stream as if the float height was off, i also set the float height to 16mm. I have been fixing motorcycles for years and even have some AMI training and certifications under my belt so this job is making me feel like a squid i figure maybe some second thoughts could help. thanks
Jon

Answer
Well my fellow mechanic, I still think your dianosis is correct.  It has to be the floats, unless the carb just simply has worn out internally or needs a thorough rebuild.  I found this same issue on an older jap bike where the float was actually getting hung on the carb wall.  I fixed that issue with a drimmel tool.  Let me know and good luck!
