Motorcycle Repair: starter problem, clutch gear, shovel head

have a 1980 shovel head.  rebuilt S&S 93" starter is engaging but the pinion gear isn't turning can't figure out what is wrong could you help me out

Is the starter gear ingaging with the gear on the clutch?

Your starter drive is probably out. you can check it by removing it and turning it. It should only turn one way

If the the jackshaft is ingaging with the clutch gear, but not turning anything then you might have a starter that has gone south.
Check your battery to make sure you have a good one. Also check the breaker. Your battery cables cound be droping voltage if they are old
