Motorcycle Repair: What fuel to use?, octane ratings, fuel octane

I have a 1993 Honda shadow VT600c and i was wandering what kind of fuel to use. Super or Unleaded. If i use unleaded what problems may occur? does this effect the valves?

Hi Stelios,

Check the owner's manual for the factory's recommendation on fuel octane use.

Basically, run the lowest octane fuel that the engine will run well on.

Condensation, varnish, and other contaminants are present in the tanks. The fuel recipe changes a bit after being stored and mixed with stale fuel in the storage tanks at the local refueling station.

I only trust the octane ratings on sealed containers of racing fuel.
