I have myself workshop of diesel engine, marine and industrial.
My 94 RK HD is my hobby.
At 84oo0km , start to make noise "pss, pss, pss" on idlle and disappear, when rew go up. I was both, exhaust valves. not closing very well.they did loose "polish ring "on they seats.
Do you thing it is normal for 84000km or could be other reason. Engine not stock anymore. single fire dyna, dual carb, kuryakyn( working well for 50000km) , 2 to 1 supertramp.
stock head, camshaft.
When machine, valve seat, valve was getting in head a 0,04 mm to much that worshop manuel say (51,66 ) do you thing that can make a small knoking noise when engine very hot and idle
Engine work well, seen more rough or hard.
Do you thing , after shiming, head for cleaming old cylinder head, with machiming, it will be betther to take less advance timing, due to little more compression.
What do you think about 120 S&$ engine for my bike.(very havy one).

that I work for more that 25 years, but unfortunetly I don't have this experience for my bike, First time I Did head on HD.

AnswerFirst check to make sure you dont have a blown head gasket. It will make a noise like you are describing.
A little less timing will keep the bike from pinging under a heavy load.
The 120 CI engine is a good engine from S&S. Makes good power.
