Motorcycle Repair: 1979 XR 80 No spark, xr 80, spark plug

I have a problem with my bike it isen't giving me a spark when I try and kick start it what could be the reasons for this.  I have already determind that it could be the ignition coil but what else could it be.  If there r a few please list them.  Thank you

Hi Pierre.

Well, the ignition coil is always a possibility when you are talking about a bike as old as yours, but there are other things as well;

1) Short in ignition circuit.

2) Blown/bad ignition fuse.

3) Loose ignition fuse connections.

4) Bad plug.

5) Bad spark plug connection to the coil.

Start with those and see what you find.
