Motorcycle Repair: Possible clutch problem, clutch cable, little at a time

Question
I ride a Suzuki RF400R.When I am accelerating, if I give it to much throttle, the engine sounds like it is in neutral and refuses to go any fatser than what it currently is travelling at. When this happens, the bike will not go unless I SLOWLY open the gas a little at a time. I do not have a manual for this bike so any step-by-step info would be GREAT! This bike is a 2nd hand import and Ive had it since October last year.

Answer
Hi Malika.

You need the repair manual as each and every bike is a little different with regard to exact proceedures for engine work.

It definitely sounds like you have a clutch problem here, though.
Start by making sure that the clutch cable is in good, servicable condition and adjusted correctly.  If that is fine, then the clutch most likely needs to be rebuilt.  get a rebuild kit and do the job or take it to a shop for them to do for you.

Good luck and ride safe.
