Motorcycle Repair: engine cutting off, tank fuel, filter air

Question
vehicle - HONDA CG125M (2001 MODEL)
I've been driving this for 14 months now.
Used 5 days/week, 30 miles/day.
Lately the engine cuts off @ midride when over 40mph
while under 40mph it will not. I took the carb into
components and cleaned, checked and cleaned the tank, fuel filter, air filter but still the engine cuts off over 40mph. I've done all these because I've been reading thru questions and answers. Now I'm really stuck. Many thanks for your help. Noel..

Answer
Hi Noel.

Since you have eliminated any reasonable fuel supply issues, the only thing left is electrical.

Look for shorts in the ignition system as well as loose or bad connections to the components and fuses.  Check the fuses for quality.  You could have a bad ignition fuse that only acts up when the vibrations at that speed get to it.  Test it with a known good fuse in the ignition circuit to be certain.

Let me know what you find.
Good luck and ride safe.
