Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki gsxr 750 2001 (stalls in first gear), suzuki gsxr 750, clutch mechanism

Question
I went down on my bike a few months ago on the left side and I started it right up and drove it home fine know I start the bike and I try to pull off in first gear and as I m letting go of the clutch it stalls but if I start to let go the clutch and accelerate it wants to stall but if I grab the clutch before it stalls it stays on no problem the bike has less then 6,000 miles on it thank you

Answer
Hi Gregory.

It almost sounds as if the sidestand cutoff relay is faulty, which is still remotely possible.

In addition to that, something in the cluch and transmission could have been damaged as well.  It could be a bent shift shaft or something sticking in the clutch mechanism.

Also, any bike that goes down will have issues with the carb synchro, which can also cause similar problems, but I've never heard of it being that bad an issue from anything except the most extreme crashes.

Start with a thorough check of the clutch mechanism and test of the sidestand cutoff switch and that circuit.

Then move on to the carb synch and engine timing.

Let me know what you find.
Good luck and ride safe.
