Motorcycle Repair: Mikuni, accelerator cables, sport questions

Question
Hi, my name is SImone, i write from italy.  If it is possible I have some questions for you.  Some months ago I had bought a Mikuni 42. It is the Screamin Eagle version. It is 42 but i don't know which part number is. I only know it is the old style, without the plastic role for accelerator cables.  I have a 2001 1200 Sportster sport.  Questions  are:  It is possible to mount the carb of whichever codes? there are difference between hsr42 for sportster in any year? (For example: a hsr42 for 99 sporty is difference from a hsr42 for 01 sporty...in the years carb are modified? or bikes?)  There are difference between hsr42 old style and new style or only the the support for accelerator cables?  It is possible that this support  touch in the motor heads? can i mill of 2/3mm from this support to permit the perfect fit of carb?  Sorry for my lots of questions  Thank you very much Simone

Answer
Yes you an mount the carb in question as long as it aligns with the intake mounting point. The screaming eagle one should just bolt on.
The HSR42 is the same carb for any harley. The only difference is the jetting. THey are all made the same. The 99 carb should be the same as the 01 carb.
Yes you can mill the carb to make it fit properly.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
