Motorcycle Repair: Oil change on 2005 BMW K1200lt, 2005 bmw k1200lt, canister filter

Dear Chris, This new bike came with no routine maintenance directions. I would like to change the oil myself since I am 200 mi from a dealer. I have the oil and filter, which is a screw on type canister filter, from the dealer. I would like to find "how to" directions or at least guidance as to where to locate the filter. There is no obvious oil filter location outside the engine where visible.

 I am not certain as to where the exact location of the oil filter would be, on the engine, but you should order the repair manual for the bike if you are going to do the repairs yourself.

If you call the dealer, you can find out the exact location of the oil filter and how to access it, while you are waiting for the manual to come in.
