Motorcycle Repair: FUEL INJECTION TUNING, roadking custom, power commander

Question
I BOUGHT A 2005 ROADKING CUSTOM WITH FUEL INJECTION AND CHANGED THE MUFFLERS TO 29 INCH SAMSON SLASHER MUFFLERS AND WILL BE CHANGING THE INTAKE TO S&S.  I AM ALREADY GETTING POPPING AND BACKFIRING AND KNOW THAT THE THING NEEDS TO BE TUNED. AFTER THE INTAKE IS CHANGED I AM GOING TO TAKE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT TUNED. DO THEY JUST CHANGE A CHIP IN THE BIKE AND PUT IT ON THE DYNO?  DO I NEED A POWER COMMANDER?  WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE POWER COMMANDER DO VERSES JUST CHANGING A CHIP? DOES ANYTHING ELSE NEED TO BE CHANGED TO GET IT RUNNING RIGHT? THANKS.

Answer
Both the Harley CPU and the Power Commander do the same thing. They pretty much run the bike. You can take it in and have the chip installed into the Harley CPU or install the Power Commander, but the Power Commander would cost more. The advantage to the Power commander is that you have more settings to work with.
Good luck and happy riding
