Motorcycle Repair: MMI, motorcycle mechanics institute, motorcycle repair

Question
This is not a typical question.  I came across this site because I am researching the motorcycle repair job field.

Motorcycle Mechanics Institute came to my son's school and visited the shop classes.  Now he wants to be a motorcycle repairer.  This sounds like a fine field.  I understand that in the area where I live this field can earn $30,000 a year.  That's not a lot, but it is a start.

Have you heard of MMI?  Does it have a good reputation for training mechanics?  Do you know anything about the job market is this field?  If so, what is the outlook from your point of view?  Thanks so much,

Jeannie

Answer
Yes, I have heard the MMI and have heard good things about them. It gives the students a good education and the knowledge to work on bikes. However, the school is only as good as what the student gets out of it. If he applies himself and studies hard, he can become a good mech. If he is a good mech people will flock to him. Bike mechs are like car mechs. People go to them becuse they trust them. In time he can open his own shop and then the sky is the limit!
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
