Motorcycle Repair: Replace choke lever, kawasaki 454 ltd, handle bar

Question
Chris, Im new to motorcycles and am getting ready to replace the choke lever mounted on the left handle bar on a 1989 Kawasaki 454 ltd. I have a new replacement to install. Is there anything I need to be aware of and what are the steps to remove? Im sure i will need to take off the hand grip at least. Thanks in advance. Mike.

Answer
Hi Mike.
You should have no problems with it at all.  the lever is usually an easier replacement than the cable.  You shouldn't need to remove the grip, but the control housing is another story.  It should be fairly obvious about what needs to come off and what doesn't.  If you do not have a repair manual, then get one and if there are any suprises, they will be shown in there.

Good luck.
