Motorcycle Repair: Kawasaki 1500 oil pump, kawasaki 1500, kawasaki dealer

Question
Hi Mark,
I don't know if you can give me info on this or not but I am at wits end. The Kawasaki dealer has been no help at all either.

My problem is with my '92 Kaw 1500.
I purchased the bike back in 99 if I recall correctly from a dealer. I also purchased additional warranty on this used bike. Neway, a few months after I bought it the oil pump failed and as a result the machine was in need of piston(s) bearings ect.The cost of repair and parts came to 2300.00 which thank goodness I didn't have to pay due to the extended warranty.
Anyway about 3 months after the ext. warranty expired the oil pump failed again. The Kaw dealer refused to repair the bike for me free of cost. I am on disability so I haven't the money to repair it.

I have heard that the oil pump on this year bike and size was a plastic one and would fail at any time.Kawasaki has since 1999 or 2000 gone to a metal pump. I have also read somewhere that Kawasaki knows of the failures and will repair the bike free of cost to the consumer. They did not issue a recall on the bikes afflicted with the dreaded pump cos it would not be finacially advantagious for them to do this.

Neway, my question is, are you familiar with this and how would I go about having Kawasaki repair the bike? So far both the dealer and home office has either ignore my request or given me the run around.
Any info you could offer would be appreciated big time!
Thank you,
kim

Contact your State Attorney General's office and inquire of making a complaint against Kawasaki.

Contact the local Better Business Bureau and file a complaint with the local dealership. They offer mediation to resolve such problems. Done via letters and emails.
