Classic/Antique Car Repair: 30 Model A stop light switch.,, good luck jack, bolt holes

Question
Am trying to get my stop light working, tried to eliminate the switch, no switch.  At least a switch as described in Snyder's catalog.  Nothing bolted to the transmission and nothing bolted to a crossmember.  No apparent bolt holes in the crossmember. Engine number indicated acceptance in May of 30.  Any helpful hints?  AS the catalog lists two types of swithces which one is appropriate, how is it mounted and connected to the brake ?  Thanks for you time and help.

Answer
There is a earlier switch that uses a spring and I am not familiar with it.  The 30 should use a very simple switch mounted to a cross member and it is a plunger type that you can take apart and fix easily.  It is activated by the brake rod that is connected to the brake pedal lever below the floor board.  That rod has a flat end on it that pushes in the plunger to deactivate the brake lights.  When you push on the bk pedal, the flat end travels fordward and lets the plunger on the switch out and that is when the contact is made.  If you have the old switch, take it apart and fix it.  If you need a new one, get the one in snyders that is for the later cars.  Make sure you have that flat end on the rear of the brake rod.
Get back to me if this is not enough to get you started.
I'll check my handbook, and see if there is anymore I can offer.
You should get the model a handbook for mechanice by les andrews.  The red one, not the green one.  We all have it and it is a great book.  About $35 or $40.
Good luck

Dave, get under the car, or take out the floor board near the seat.  Follow the rod from the brake pedal lever.  It gose almost under the seat.  At the end of it will be the light switch.
