Motorcycle Repair: 88katana 600, oil type, wheelies

Question
your probably gonna get sick of me.  i've put 92 katana forks on my 88.  i've changed the oil in the forks to the heaviest i could get but the front end is still mushy.  i can bottom it out pretty easily.  i have rode my friends bike which is also a 92 katana and the front end had much more controlled dampening on the travel down.  is there something i need to check or have lined up when reassembling the forks the manual did say much except oil type and amount to put in.
thanks
aaron

Answer
Hi Aaron,

I would need to inspect the parts to tell if there is any problems. Be certain the fluid ports are in good condition and unobstructed.

Use www.bikebandit.com to see parts microfiche. No special alignments inside forks.

Explain how you're compressing forks: wheelies or light braking...?

How much do you wheigh?
