Motorcycle Repair: front end, triple trees, fork oil

Question
I'm tearing down the front end of my '89 Sporty to chop it out with some 8 inch-over tubes.  I purchased a kit from Seeger Cycle in North Ridgeville, OH. It's engineered in a way so it doesn't require cutting and re-welding the neck.

Disassembly was pretty smooth and now everything is off, ready to rebuild.

I'd like some pointers on separating the lowers from the old tubes (so I don't break anything) and the best step-by-step procedure for reassembling the fork assembly.

Do I just pop off the dust covers, take out the circlip, disconnect the dapening rod and yank the tubes out? At what point do I put in the new fork oil?

Thanks,
Charles Blake

Answer
You got it right. The above steps are correct. Make sure you put in a newfork seal or you will probably get a leak. Put the forks back together and install them in the triple trees. Now put in your fork oil and your set to go.
Good luck and happy riding
