Motorcycle Repair: 1974 CL200, sheet metal screw, bill silver

Question
I have a CL 200 and I can't seem to be able to get the oil filter open or off what ever to clean it. I have the owners manual and a service manual and both have different ways to do this. One says to pull on the tabs and the other says to pull the whole thing off I looked at it and it won't pull off and I tried pulling on the tabs and they broke off. What do I do now? By the way I'm new on this motorcycle thing I work on jet engines. What I was thinking of doing is to drill a hole in the cover and insert a sheet metal screw and us that to pull on then just replace it if I can find one.
Please help me. One other thing where can I find parts for this bike ?

Answer
If you didn't remove the 6x20mm screw deep down in the center, then it really won't come off.

You can see some images at partsfish site:

Register and check the CB200T photos, under right crankcase cover for more details.

Once you remove the screw, you may be able to wiggle the cover off, but not that the tabs are gone, you may have to round up a 6x 40 or 50mm screw and run it down inside the filter cover. It should bottom out on the end of the crankshaft and then that will push the cover off the end of the filter body.

Check www.westernhillshonda.com for parts under the 354 product code.
