Nissan Repair: no dash lights

i have a 97 nissan sentra with no dash lights.the person i got it from said if you hit the top of the dash they would come back on for a min and go back out.i did pull the cluster out and look for a broken wire and dont fine one.i dont know where the fuses are for them.do you think the the cluster is bad.help please  thanks mike.

Hi Mike -

Assuming that the person is correct when you hit the dash, could be a couple things -

Bad connection at the cluster.

Bad dimmer switch, which should be located on the dash driver's side.

The fuses are below dash driver's side. Usually it is labeled "INST" or "PNL"
