Nissan Repair: 2000 Nissan Altima 2.5 L GXE 4 Door Sedan, nissan altima, dash lights

Question
Hi Calvin:

Car has 191 K.  Car is used to being driven everyday, yet, recently with a new car here, it has not been driven maybe once a week.  I will drive it more often now.  I am just attempting to get the car in shape to hopefully sell it.

Wednesday morning, Oct. 10th, drove the car, with Lights on, A/C on to defrost the windshield and radio on.  My Charger Light & Brake light went on (On the dashboard).  Blinkers sped up too.

Mechanic could not duplicate again this week (Oct 17th).  New Alternator was put in about a month ago.  Mechanic checked the Alternator and it was working fine.  He cleaned the Battery Terminals and cleaned cable and anything else that made sense.  He was not able to tell me what might be wrong except maybe it was an electrical issue.

Can you provide any suggestions feedback about this issue?

Thank You,

Orrin

Answer
Hi Orrin -

You are on the right track. The 2 dash lights being on usually indicate that the charging system is not working properly. If the alternator tested good, I would just track it and keep an eye on the alternator from time to time.

If the turn signal is still blinking fast, check the bulbs, one might be out.

Hope this helps -
