Nissan Repair: Nissan Murano 2005 AWD S-Tranny Issue?, nissan murano, threshold bank

Hi!  I have a question regarding what my MO just started doing.  The error codes are P0420 and P1778.  When I accelerate there is hesitation and then a sudden jerk like the gas pedal is having a hard time sending the signal to accelerate.  Then when I do accelerate my RPMS go way too high and my truck is making a whining/wheezing noise?  Oh and my tranny fluid on the CVT tranny is black/dark brown.  Please help point me in the direction of what my options are, where to go, what to do??

The codes are as follows -

P0420 - Catalyst system below threshold (bank #1) - this is passenger side
P1778 - Automatic transaxle malfunction

Because the trans oil is burnt, and it seems like it is slipping from your description, I would have the trans reconditioned. The P0420 code may be a result of the unstable RPM, so i would reset the ECM after you work on the trans and see what happens.

What you might want to try before overhauling the trans is to drain the oil, replace with fresh flujid and put in an additive called AT205. Carquest has it here in Hawaii, hopefully you can get it there. I have seen it repair non-shifting transmissions.
