Nissan Repair: Nissan Primera, fuel pump relay, blown fuses

Question
Hi, I have a 1991 Nissan Primera - 1800cc Auto.
It wouldnt start.   I tried jumping it off another car, and got it turning over, even starting for a few seconds, but would not stay running.   I replaced the battery, and air filter, and spark plugs.   Now it will turn over, but wont start at all, not even for a few seconds.   I took the (out) pipe off the petrol filter, and tried starting but no fuel was pumped out.   I'm not sure if it was ment to or not?
It sounds like no fuel is getting through.   Its had a fuel pump replaced in the past, but I dont know where this is located ?
Any help would be great - thanks

Answer
Morning Brad. The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and it's accessible from the top. I'm not sure if your vehicle is a wagon or sedan but check in the trunk, under the carpet and locate the fuel lines and the electrical connections of it. Now you need someone to help with the test. Use a test light. Disconnect the electrical connection near the pump and connect the test light on the side that comes from the engine. Now have someone to turn the ignition key to just "ON" position without cranking the engine. The light should come on for 2 seconds and then it shuts off. This means that the fuel pump relay is working. Next, ask your helper to crank the motor. The light it should stay on during cranking. If these 2 tests are positive, replace the fuel pump. If not, locate and replace the fuel pump relay. Also, test for blown fuses and open wires. Test for the non injection models is similar. Locate the fuel pump near the fuel tank under the vehicle and make sure there is voltage on it's electrical terminal. The fuel pump will activate for a second or 2 with the ignition on and engine off and then it stops. With the engine cranking or running your test light should stay ON.
