Nissan Repair: a/c 2000 nissan maxima, nissan maxima, compressor clutch

Hello Calvin:
I need your advise on trouble shooting the A/C on my 2000 Maxima. The compressor clutch will not engage. I have checked the fuse under the dash and have replaced the relay thats under the hood.

Hi Pat -

The A/C system is protected by a pressure switch on the high side. If the pressure is too high, or too low, then it will not engage the compressor. My guess is that you have a freon leak and the internal pressure has dropped.

You have checked the fuse, and replaced the relay. Assuming that the on/off switch is operational, then I would take it to a reputable mechanic and have them check pressures.
