Nissan Repair: heating, heater control valve, heater hoses

Question
I bought a used 06 maxima from an individual. The heating system blows cold when car in sitting idling, but blows nice hot when driving. Is this a water pump going bad? And if so, is it something I can change easily in my garage?

Answer
Hi Mike -

This probably is a problem with your heater control valve. From the firewall in the engine compartment, locate the heater hoses, and follow them til you see an in line valve with a hose attached to it. This is the heater control valve. Replace that and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps -
