Nissan Repair: Frontier brake noise, squeaking brakes, nissan frontier

Question
2009 Nissan Frontier, 7k miles on it.  Brakes squeak when applying them.  Seems to be dependant on weather, more humid- then more squeaking.

Answer
Hi Ruann -

Squeaking brakes are caused by vibration, meaning that the brake pads are loose in the caliper. It is not dangerous, but the noise is bothersome.

What needs to be done is to take the car and have the brake system serviced. If you take it to a mechanic, be careful they don't try to sell you a complete brake job. What I usually do is clean the brake pad to caliper surfaces, and apply some disc brake quiet or hardware on the pads, grease all caliper metal to metal contact points.

Hope this helps -
