Nissan Repair: alternator belt issues, model engines, king cab

QUESTION: What is the proper length / serial number for the alternator belt, and tension parameters ? Belt squeals, 1 week old, was 1/2 inch left on adjustment bracket, now maxed. Not a cheap belt , Gates XL 7365, 13/32" x 37-1/8" O.C. replacement.

Hi Buck -

According to my listing that is the correct belt number and size. However with the King Cabs, due to the plethora of models and changes, there could be another application. Try checking 1987 or 1985 model engines.
The last resort would be to just order a belt one size smaller than what you have, probably the 7360. Just FYI, the first number of the belt number is the width of the belt, and the next 2 or 3 is the size. For instance, the "7" is the 13/32 width, whereas the 5 would be smaller. The 365 means the belt is 36.5 inches.
