Nissan Repair: 87 pathfinder, water engine, rev limiter

I have 87 pahtfinder v6. i took it off roading took bit water engine ran hole time  but turned off drove it the next day and it wont let me get over 3000rpm it sounds like its hitting a rev limiter.did go safe mode how do i fix?

Hi Kenny -

Try checking the distributor cap for condensation. If that area got wet, there might be some moisture in the cap. Clean it with electrical cleaner, or just replace it.

Does the engine run rough while idling? Perhaps some water got into your fuel?
