Nissan Repair: 1993 Nissan Hardbody 4cyl auto transmission, nissan hardbody, auto transmission

Question
hey i got a 93 hardbody 4cyl auto transmission with 182k miles about a yr ago. the transmission had this issue when i got the truck. 2nd and 4th gears dont seem to be there. high rpm when it shift shift to 2nd and 4th. aamco said both gears shot. and would cost $3300 to rebuild. price seems high. would a professial rebuild be better or a junkyard trans or a diy rebuild? and where can i get it rebuilt cheap but good quality?

Answer
Andrew,

$3300 is a bit expensive since it is a 1993.  I would go with a wrecking yard unit if you can do the install yourself.  The problem is you need to have a yard that warranties their units.  Otherwise, I would find a different shop, other than AAMCO to see if you might find a better price for getting yours rebuilt.  I use and like the experience I have had with Cottman...
