Nissan Repair: Nissan 240Sx and Honda Civic, nissan 240sx, correct configuration

Question
QUESTION: Hello,

I have a neighbor who is interested in buying my 91 Nissan 240SX hatchback so that he can drop the engine into his 98 Honda Civic SE.  The 240 is rear-wheel driven and the engine is a 4-cyl DOHC with 26-27 inches measured from the back of the cylinder head cover to the front of the fan blades.  His car is currently in the shop, so I cannot take any measurements.  With the Civic engine compartment designed to for its sideways sitting 4-cyl engine, I am skeptical that this can be done without enlarging the compartment.  Is this project feasible or the cost going to be extensive.

ANSWER: Emi,

The swap will not work unless he has a lot of time and material to make a things fit and work together.

QUESTION: The Nissan is a complete car and runs well, so all of the electronics will be available.  When you say, "a lot of material," were you referring to parts or is he looking at some welding?

Answer
Emi,

If he has all the parts it is just a matter of lining everything up and welding the mounts in the correct configuration to get the car to drive in a straight line.  Material would consists of metal plates to adapt the motor mounts from one car to the other.  It is a pain but it can be done.
