Nissan Repair: 95 nissan maxima, hog ring, hog rings

Two part question Von my 95 maxima gle is working great but when I go to accelerate i have to put it to the floor for it to kickdown also my driver seat heater is broken the fuse is good but no light to indicate it is on and no heat. other seat works good how much work would it be switch the guts? or do you have another suggestion thank you dustin

The kickdown linkage is probably in need of adjusting.  With the engine off put the throttle to the floor.  Now, feel the kickdown cable linkage.  Adjust the cable by use of the two lock nuts until it is taunt; not tight.  There needs to be a little play in the cable.  Once you have it adjusted the transmission will provide crisp shifts.  Now, if the transmission is worn this will not help.

I would first try changing the switch.  If that does not work you could disassemble the seat and change out the heaters from side to side.  You will need hog ring plyers and hog rings.  Hard to find unless you know of an upholstry shop.  I ended up going to Eastwood a tool company since the upholstry shops wanted to do the work and not sell the rings or plyers.
