Nissan Repair: 1990 300zx, wire terminal, metal surface

Question
Hello, I have a 1990 300zx 2+2 na,  I am not getting spark from my Z.  I have tried a few things, but I am stuck and do not know what else to try.  I have just replaced the ECU hoping that would be the problem, but it isnt giving me any difference.  I know that no spark could happen for a few reasons, bad spark plugs, bad ecu, or bad distributor.  Is there any way to check the distributor?  And what is the best way to see if I am gettin spark from the spark plugs?   Thank you so much, If you could help in any way I would appreciate it greatly!

Answer
Hi Jasmine -

How was the spark checked?

Best way to check the distributor is to remove a wire from the spark plug. Insert a screwdriver into the boot until it wedges against the wire terminal inside. Hold the screwdriver shaft about 1/4" away from any metal surface of the engine while someone tries to start it. You should see spark jumping between the 2 surfaces. Do not touch any metal surface while performing this test. If not, then I would replace the ignition module in the distributor.

Anyway, Please let me know how the spark was checked?
