Nissan Repair: I35: differential and hids., limited slip differential, torque steer

Question
Hello, perhaps you can help with my question. I have a 2002 Infiniti I35. It is my understanding that these vehicles have a front limited slip differential that reduces torque steer. Is this correct? Also, what is the life expectancy of hid zenon bulbs? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Sean,

I have a 2003 350Z and still have the original HID lights.  So, you can get 8 or 9 years out of them.  If you have a limited slip differential in the car it does nothing to reduce torque steer.  What is does is aid in traction since both wheels pull together rather than the driver side, open differential, pull first.  So, you could say it helps.  But, the torque steer is reduced by the fact that Nissan, and others, design the driveshafts to torque at about the same rate, given their length.  Remember that the passenger side driveshaft is much longer than the driver's side.
