Nissan Repair: 1999 Nissan Alitma Coolant Leak???, nissan alitma, coolant leak

Question
Hi, I have an 99'Altima 2.4 GXE. I have a shop that looked at my car but didn't jack it up. They told me that my Water Pump is leaking and my Thermostat is bad. I would like to know if this maybe true. When I drive on the highway my temp gauge goes up and down but doesn't overheat. The funny thing is that it doesn't go crazy when I am on city roads. When I hit the gas it makes a noise by the left side where the belts are at. Now for the leak its leaking behind the oil pan. I do refill it with coolant everyday with about 1qt of water.

Can you please tell me what may be the problems? I just rather be safe than sorry. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Christina -

Yes, looks like your water pump needs replacing. Usually the Tstat is replaced with the water pump, but not necessary.

Replace that, and the sound may disappear. Coolant could be getting on your belts when you are driving.

Hope this helps -
