Nissan Repair: 2002 nissan xterra stalls, nissan xterra, spark plug wire

Question
as of 3 days ago I noticed that my 2002 xterra started dying and shutting down after i filled the gas tank. It has been stalling ever since. When the engine is cold and it has not been run for a few hours, starts just fine and runs great,But after 10 15 min it stalls .After it stalls i crank it and it cranks and cranks but does not start.I noticed that if i step on the gas pedal as it cranks it just cranks. If i wait and crank without stepping on the gas it makes an effort to start but it does not start. So i sit and wait do nothing ,i dont crank and dont step on the gas and shut everything off. usually after 15min to a 1/2 hour i crank and it starts and runs great again.Inoticed it started doing it after i filled the gas tank but it was a very cold night and i felt the gas pump was very very slow pumping do to the cold.Other then this  it has a recent tun up and all fluids are topped off.Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Cristian -

Next time it stalls, check the spark. Pull a spark plug wire and insert a screwdriver in the boot until it wedges against the metal terminal inside. Hold the shaft of the screwdriver about 1/4" away from any metal surface while a helper cranks the engine (do not touch any metal surface while doing this). If there is spark, then it is a fuel issue, probably the fuel pump or relay. If there is no spark, then I would replace the igniter module, located in the distributor. If you have the engine light on, then I would research the code, perhaps it is the crank sensor.

Hope this helps -
