Nissan Repair: Digital Touch Entry System, electric solenoid, volt ohm meter

Question
I have a 1992 Maxima GXE with the digital touch entry system.  For the last 6 months from time to time the system would not operate along with the electric door lock on the drivers door.  Now the system has stopped operating.  When I try and open the doors using the electric door lock, I can hear what seems like a relay clicking from underneath the dash around where the
blinking security light is. I tried lubricating all the door locks and they function fine manually.  I'm not sure where to start trouble shooting.  Any idea's?

Answer
Russell,

You are going to have to trouble shoot the system.  The drivers door is the master and if the door lock electric solenoid has failed you will need to replace it.  You are going to have to pull the panel off the door and do some probing with a test light or a volt/ohm meter to see where the power is getting to and what is not working.  I am almost sure it is the driver side electric solenoid that has failed.
