Nissan Repair: Nissan 300ZX turbo, fuel pressure gauge, fuel pressure regulator

This is a reply to an earlier question and respone. I changed my son's distributor and am now getting spark to the plugs, but no fuel. Should I check the fuel pump? Is it located in the tank? I have heard that the ECU's on these cars are troublesome. Could that be the problem?

The ECU could go bad but that is rare.  I would first look at the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump.  Turn the key on, does the pump make noise?  If not replace the relay.  If still no noise, fuel pressure, drop the tank and replace the pump.  The relay box can be backprobed to see if power is getting to the relay when the key is on and a new relay will indicate if power is getting out to the pump. Get a fuel pressure gauge to make sure the fuel pressure regulator is working properly.  A Haynes Manual will provide specific pressure requirements for your car.
