Nissan Repair: speedometer, vehicle speed sensor, nissan frontier

Have 2001 Nissan Frontier.  Speedometer suddenly stop working and the engine light went on. Is this a easy fix? Is it a cable or sensor?

The speedometer is a sensor on the transmission and is the light the check engine light?  If so, go to Autozone or Checker and get the code read for free.  Email me the code and we'll go from there on the check engine.  Now, the code probably is going to say vehicle speed sensor and when you replace that the code can be cleared.
