Nissan Repair: shift console lighting not luminated, 2005 nissan sentra, philips screwdriver

Question
Recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Sentra for my daughter, just before going to College, and found that the center shift lighting is not working. Without an owners manual I can not locate any fuse that may be the problem or if removing the console cover and looking for a blown bulb is it!  What can I do before going to a dealership??

Answer
Hi Richard -

If the other panel lights work (instrument panel, gauges, etc) then it is not the fuse. If it is the fuse, it is located driver's side under dash. Look for a fuse labeled "inst".

Replacing the bulb entails removal of the console housings. Usually all you need is a philips screwdriver and some patience. Some models you will need to remove the front seats. Once the housing is removed, you will be able to locate the bulb, just follow the wire.

Hope this helps -
