Nissan Repair: Nissan Maxima Random shut off, mass airflow sensor, nissan maxima

Question
Hi,

Just recently my Nissan Maxima 97 SE started randomly shutting down. I can be driving the street and when I come to slow down / stop, the car will shut off.. Doesn't do it all the time.

"battery cable leading to the main fuse box. It was corroded and causing shorts and voltage spikes"  -- I found this explanation on another site.

I am wondering if you have any ideas?

Answer
Drakes,

Mass airflow sensor.  Check voltage and ohms with a volt ohm meter following instructions in Haynes Manual.  About $20 bucks for the meter and another $20 for the book.  Usually a mass airflow sensor will fail without throwing a code.  Seems to meet your symptoms.
