Nissan Repair: Clutch 2001 Nissan Maxima, clutch fluid, nissan maxima

The clutch one day was working perfectly, car runs good.  Stopped at a friends house and when I went to start the car up again, the clutch was out.  It won't go into gear, would you have any idea what this means?  If you can help thanks a lot.

I need more clarification. When you say the clutch was out, is the pedal easy to press (meaning no resistance?), or is the pedal normal, but just won't go into gear?

Please check the fluid level for me and get back to me as well. The clutch fluid container is right next to the brake fluid container. It uses regular brake fluid as well.
