Nissan Repair: electrical, radio controls, steering wheel

Question
My airbag indicator started flashing about a week ago and my service engine soon indicator light is steadily on and now my horn and the remote radio controls on the steering wheel are not working at all what can i check for. I checked all fuses next to the battery and in the car under the dashboard everything seems to be good no fuses blown and i checked for current and everything had current, what should i be looking for that i might have missed i would like to fix this myself, I'm pretty handy.

Answer
Hi Benjamin -

From what you decribe, there is a disconnect within your steering wheel. That is where all your control wiring is for the things you describe. If you diagnose the code for the CEL, it is probably the air bag, no power.

Unfortunately I think you will need to bring it to the dealer, however, depending on how new the car is, might be still warranted.

The air bag is a sensitive thing, and I have seen too many times when people remove the steering wheel, the air bag deploys, and then your problems get very expensive.

Hope this helps -
