Nissan Repair: 2000 Xtera wont start, damper pulley, tdc mark

Question
My Xtera will turn over but wont start.  The fuel pump does buzz and will pump gas when the ignition is first turned on.  I also have a spark.  Trying to diagnose with out buying unnecessary parts.  Thank You.

Answer
Hi Dan -

Can you tell me how you checked the spark?
If there is both, then it should start unless the timing belt slipped a couple notches.

Manually turn the engine until the pointer on the timing cover lines up with the TDC mark on the damper pulley. Then remmove the distributor cap and check to see where it is pointing, it should be pointing directly in line with the number one tower of the cap.

Also when you checked the fuel pump, where did you remove the line to check the gas coming out, near the injector rail?

Can you get back to me?

Thanks
