Answer
Richard,

The slip light indicates that the tires are moving at different speeds.  That is, a tire is slightly spinning.  If the tires are good and the road surface is clean and dry, under normal acceleration conditions the car will not activate the spin light.  That is, the computer, modulating the brakes will keep the car from slipping a tire.  It is a control thing and does not hurt your car.  If you accelerate less fast the light should stay off.  Anotehr cause could be that the brake fluid needs to be changed every two years to keep it contaminate and water free.  Compressability of fluid will cause the light to activate too.  But, again, it does not hurt your car to have the light come on.  I turn mine off every time I start the car...
