Nissan Repair: check engine light, service engine soon light, autozone

My service engine soon light just came on about 2 days ago.  Every thing seems to be running fine, but I don't really take good care of my car, I haven't changed my oil in 'bout 8 months.  I was wondering if that was it or what?? and If I do change my oil, should I disconnect my battery and see if the light comes back on?  thanks for your time.

Autozone or Checker will check the light for free with their code reader.  If you like you can purchase a code reader at Wal mart for $68 bucks.  I would to that to see what is going on.  Yes, it is true that disconnecting the battery would clear the code.  But, you would not know what is going on.  Get the codes and email me back.
