Nissan Repair: 97 Altima Trunk Lock, time constraint, back rest

Question
My Daughter in-law broke a key off in her trunk and I know I will have to go through the back seat to open it from the inside. Can you step me through removing the back seat? I will have a very short amount of time to complete this repair.

Answer
Hi Mike -

I am in Hawaii, so I apologize for the delay. I know you are on a time constraint.

Removal of the back seat starts with the bottm part of the seat. Look under the back seat bench and locate the 2 screws holding it down. After removal, lift the front of the seat and it should come right out. Once that is removed, you can access the back rest hold down bolts. Remove them and you can angle the back rest out.

That should give you access to the trunk.

Have you tried inserting the borken part of the trunk key and turning the lock? Sometimes that will unlock the trunk.

Hope this helps
Aloha
