Nissan Repair: Thermosat ---2.4l ka24e, thermostat, hoses

Question
Hi Calcin,

Thanks so much for you answear to my prevoius question.

Now seems I am getting lucky. yesterday when I plug out the connector on the top of the thermosat, the cooling fun started up immdiately even the engine is still very cold. When I put the connector back the fan didnot work even when overheating. So I believe the thermosat gone bad. right?

I went to a lots of shops I have difficulty in buying original Nissan Thermosat, and now I got one for Toyota. physically It can be fiitted in my car but my worry is : does Nissan runing at the same temeperature as Toyota.

Thanks

Answer
Hi William -

Could be the thermostat, could also be the sending unit that the wires are connected to. When the car is hot, feel both bottom hoses and top hoses. If one is hot, and the other is cold, then it is the thermostat. If they are both hot, then you must replace the sending unit (switch).

In answer to your question, the stats should be interchangeable provided they open between 170 to 180 degrees. That should be stamped on the thermostat itself.

Hope it helps -
aloha
