Nissan Repair: transmission or clutch, nissan nx2000, sr20de

Question
i have a 93 nissan nx2000 sr20de. when i purchased the car approx almost 6+ mths ago it drove fine. now seems to hesitate, idol is weak, seems to have very little throttle response when driven also the actual "stick" to the 5 spd is ridiculously hot if driven for any extended period of time ( you can barely stand to hold it)pls help i just want my car to drive normally again. also is the tranny the same on an sr20de as an sr20det? am looking to eventually turbo this car but dont want to purchase a transmission twice for each motor if the tranny is the root of this evil

Answer
Hi Justin

Please check the transmission cooling lines, and the transmission oil itself. It might also help to replace the oil, as it may have lost its cooling capabilities.

As far as the engine performance, I will need more information - the last tune up, for instance. If you have not tune it up since you got it, then it is probably due, as I doubt if the previous owner had it done prior to your purchase.

I believe in trying to eliminate the most obvious and less cost intensive items first before condemning the trans or some other large ticket repair.

Please let me know how it goes -
